Poteet Pirate Band
Friday night Randy and I got to go to the Poteet-Sulphur Springs game. It was our first time to see Daniel march in the band. We were the parents in the stands with the green shirts on. LOL! Everybody wears green shirts so the band will see a "Sea of Green" when they look up into the stands, according to the directors.
We're going to have to go to another game so I can watch the halftime show. I only saw Daniel looking good. I know I heard him play. The other 127 kids accompanied him nicely. :)

Yesterday was a pretty awesome day. In the morning I got the "gray washed right out of my hair." :) In the afternoon Andrew (Randy's son) and Heather (fiancee) came over to celebrate Andrew's 25th birthday. We had a great time. Andrew seemed to be a bit surprised at the decorations, balloons, and cake with his name on it. We watched Duplicity. (That movie is confusing.) Then we ordered pizza... always a crowd-pleaser at our house.
I picked up my dad and "Little" Daniel. Deborah and "Big" Daniel came over. We ate more pizza and some pattypan squash Deborah cooked. We enjoyed the evening visiting and watching Texas beat Tech.
True story.... this morning I had an email in my box advertising t-shirts: Texas over Tech 34-24. guess I don't need to check the score now.
I picked up my dad and "Little" Daniel. Deborah and "Big" Daniel came over. We ate more pizza and some pattypan squash Deborah cooked. We enjoyed the evening visiting and watching Texas beat Tech.

House of my dreams.......
When I was teaching at the neighborhood school (which my daughters also attended) 15 years ago, I would drive by the houses on my way home. I always thought, "Living in one of those houses would be the ultimate dream home....." *sigh*
A few years later, my wonderful husband-to-be at the time and I decided it was time to buy a house. Guess what neighborhood we found our dream home in! You're right! The neighborhood by the school I worked at for seven years, the neighborhood I drove by every day to and from work thinking living in one of those houses would be the home of my dreams.
Randy and I have now been here for 4 years. Our home is comfortable, big enough for all the kids and parties, and exactly what we both wanted.
Randy really surprised me when we got settled in here. All the time I'd known him before buying this house, he lived in an apartment and traveled about 75% of the year. When we moved here, a side of him came out that I didn't know existed. He has single handedly created a marvelous garden, transplanted nice grass in place of the kind we didn't like, kept up the beautiful landscaping that was already here, and even tried to make the "ugly tree" more likable for me. :)

The Best Husband
I have the most wonderful husband that ever was created. He is loving, kind, compassionate, fun, funny, a great person all around.
We are fortunate in that he is semi-retired and works a good bit from home. We get to spend lots of time together, and he picks up the slack when I'm working.

Feeling Clumsy
I am making a conscious effort to keep my blog more updated than I have in the past. So, here goes....
On Tuesday, September 1st, I tripped over an electrical cord that was left stretched across an aisle in the computer lab. I landed on my left knee, hit my head on the corner of a table, and landed on the floor on my right wrist.
A trip to the ER, a sprained knee, a knot on my head, and a sprained right wrist later, here I am. Every day gets a bit better. I am thankful the injuries were not any worse.
And... the cord was gone when I returned to work. :)

Garden September 2009
The garden is fantastic! Since my last update, three kinds of beans, a jalapeno plant, and some mandavilla have been added. We are loving the okra. The stalks are now taller than the 6-foot fence and still growing… kind of like my son! 
Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, we’re expecting more tomatoes from the existing bushes as well as two new ones. One of the new ones is a zebra tomato! Can’t wait to see that one.
By the way, did you know banana peels placed in the soil around rose bushes makes them grow fuller and bigger?
