Winter Pruning
Randy gave the bushes and trees in the front of the house their winter haircut. It looks very nice. Thank you, Randy!

Last Harvest of 2010
The mild weather we had in the fall allowed the garden to continue producing some things until January. Our freeze and snow on January 9th marked the end of the garden for this year.
Randy harvested the Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and lettuce that were still hanging on. We had Dad over for dinner. I cooked a corned beef brisket, cabbage, and corn muffins to go with the salad, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. It was delicious.

Texas Snow
While short-lived, we had snow in January. I'm always reminded of Eli's birth when it snows in January. The fluffy white stuff was present the day she was born. :)
Yes, I know some of you are thinking, "That's not real snow." Technically, you are probably correct. But, remember we are in Texas, home of 105 degree summers. We are in Texas where we run the air conditioner from April till October. We are in Texas where we have two climates... hot and cool.
For those of us born and raised here, this is pretty and creates warm fuzzy feelings. It makes us want to curl up on the couch by the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate.

Randy's birthday was January 11. Mine is January 16. My son-in-law, Daniel Scott, organized the surprise new living room furniture. I can't wait to hear the stories attached!
I walked in the living room this morning and got as far as the edge of the carpet and stood there and stared. I'm sure my chin was on the floor.
THANK YOU Daniel Scott, Eli, Deborah, Daniel James, Sarah, Meredith, Steve, Andrew, Heather, Jeannie, and Bennett!!
Wow!
