Hibiscus

This year we have the most beautiful yellow hibiscus in a big pot in the backyard.  I came home today and found four blooms on it.

Poteet vs Highland Park

October 11, 2012. Poteet played Highland Park, a long time rival. We came up short by 1 point, but our Poteet band was the BEST! Go Poteet!

Update on Life

I noticed my last post was July 3, 2012.  Boy, am I behind.

In June I went to the podiatrist for plantar fasciitis.  I happened to mention a bruise on top of my left foot that had been there since I fell at a wedding almost two years ago.  The doctor squeezed my foot.  After I came down from the ceiling, he determined I had a Morton's neuroma on the bones of my foot.  After a month of more passive measures, there was no improvement.

I went in to the doctor July 18th for a checkup.  The doctor said the neuroma had to come out, as it would continue to grow and be more painful.  July 20th I was in surgery.  Five hours, 10 stitches, and a 2 inch incision later, Randy took me home to start the healing process.  I'll not include a picture here.  It looked pretty bad.

I started school August 20th.  All of the family went to Ft Sill August 23-25 for Eli's graduation from Basic Training for the Army National Guard.  August 27th students started school.

The second day of school my foot got stepped on by a student.  I had a doctor's appointment that afternoon, which was interrupted by an asthma attack, seizure, 911 call, paramedics, and an ambulance ride to the ER.

That brings us up to today, August 30, 2012.  I'm currently back on bed rest with foot elevated for 5 days.  Hopefully, this will break the cycle of pain and I can continue the teaching year.

Flower Update

The flowers in our yard are exceptionally beautiful.  Randy's green thumb keeps them growing.

blue morning glory
The morning glories have moved from the side of the yard to the back and the compost pile.
marigolds
The former compost pile.  It's now home to morning glories, okra, and miscellaneous other things that come up.
The crepe myrtles were gorgeous this year.
