Garden Update

The Texas heat is giving the garden a hard time.  Lots of watering is keeping it going.  The tomato bushes have given up.  The butternut squash is doing very well.  Okra likes heat, but isn't producing as much as in previous years, but it's still delicious.  Something new we tried this year is edamame.  The pods are small but taste great.

Pick Your Own

This post is very simple.  Deborah and Sarah went to a peach orchard near Austin and picked peaches last weekend.  Deborah told me about a website where you can find "Pick Your Own" farms, or PYO.  Take a look at Pick Your Own.org and see what's available in your area.

The link to Hay Bale Art I found to be particularly amusing.  Enjoy!

Swimming Party

Some of our favorite parts of summer are having any or all of the kids over, feeding them, and going swimming.  Of course, Emma steals the show whenever she's around.  But that's OK.  That's what grandkids are supposed to do, right?

Anniversary Trip to Tyler

Randy and I spent the night in Tyler at the very elegant Hilton Garden Inn.  We celebrated our five years of wedded bliss with dinner at Olive Garden and a trip to the Tyler Rose Garden.  It was nice to spend time with my Prince Charming celebrating our marriage.

Anniversary flowers.  :) :)
Awww....

Lilies at the Rose Garden were blooming better than the roses.
